WHAT IS LEVEL UP?
Think about the martial arts Black Belt program… but for music lessons! Level Up is 10 levels of achievement, each with 10 songs and challenges customized by your music instructor for your unique needs and goals – a perfect blend of structure and flexibility. Enjoy following a roadmap of exactly 100 steps from beginning to mastery, earning fun rewards like wristbands and certificates along the way. Level Up was designed for every age, level, and instrument, including adults, brand new beginners, and students who have already had lessons. We have our instructors create engaging lessons such as our popular Pasadena piano lessons.
WHY STUDENTS LOVE IT
What student doesn’t love the idea of “leveling up”? This is the same thing they try to do all the time in their video games and phone apps. Levels are a familiar concept, and students naturally understand it takes a little work and time to “level up”, but the reward and the journey is always worth it. Students enjoy being challenged in ways that are achievable and can be measured. And when students know they will be rewarded for completing each challenge, it makes it even more fun. Students LOVE stickers, certificates and wristbands!
WHY PARENTS LOVE IT
As a parent you want your child to enjoy taking music lessons. You also want to know if your child is making progress. Level Up creates a transparent and structured path of learning music. This makes it very easy to see progress and allows parents to support their children better on their musical journey. Because our students are working harder to accomplish the tasks and challenges, they are progressing, growing faster as musicians and are practicing more at home. And when students are progressing faster, they can SEE their progress more easily, and then they are motivated to want to progress even more. It’s the type of cycle you want your child to be in, as opposed to the cycle where they aren’t practicing or seeing progress which leads to more lack of interest in practicing and eventually quitting.
STUDENTS ARE MORE MOTIVATED
The feeling of accomplishment one gets after completing a task is enjoyable and memorable! Because Level Up is broken into many SMALL, achievable tasks, it makes completing them manageable. When the student gets a taste of what it feels like to complete that first task, it will be natural for them to want to complete the next task even more. Because the Level Up tasks (known as challenges and songs) are clearly defined and measurable, it gives students a clear sense of direction which is motivating in and of itself. When students see their first sticker go onto that sticker chart with 99 left to go, there is a real intrinsic sense of both accomplishment and inspiration there! This is why programs like the martial arts Black Belt system work so well.

Our Level Up program is a free, optional way to encourage student progress. As students grow, they earn stickers, wristbands, and certificates that mark each step along their musical journey. The 10-level structure is similar to martial arts belts and helps students stay focused and motivated through tangible achievements.
Flexible Scheduling Made Easy
Need to change your plans? No problem. You can cancel or reschedule at any time online or by contacting our helpful office staff. Unlimited make-ups mean your lessons always fit your life and you never have to miss out on learning.
Show Off Your Skills at Recitals
Students can take the stage at our biannual recitals, held at Boston Court Pasadena, gaining valuable experience and pride in their accomplishments while sharing music with loved ones. Recitals are free and completely optional!
A Welcoming, Family-Friendly Space
While waiting for students, parents, caregivers, and families can enjoy a relaxing lounge with:

Responsive Support All Week Long
Our administrative staff is available every day of the week to handle scheduling and provide exceptional customer service. Our goal is to make coordinating your music lessons simple and convenient with our friendly team.
No Long-Term Commitments
We believe that students should have the flexibility to choose how long they wish to continue lessons. That’s why we operate on a month-to-month basis for all lessons–no long-term contracts. Continue as long as you love it, pause when needed, and come back when you’re ready.

Annual Photo Day Tradition
Our free annual picture day is a hit with students and their families. This professional photo shoot lets students of all ages capture fun, professional photos with their instruments–adult students are encouraged to participate too!
